Background
The Ryukyu Islands, also known as the Nansei Islands are a chain of Japanese Islands that stretch southwest from Kyushu to Taiwan.
Okinawa is by far the biggest island and Okinawa city is considered the capital of Ryukyu.
The Ryukyu Football Association was founded in 2014 in Okinawa City and is led by Mr. Tasuku Miyagi. The Ryukyu national team already played several friendly matches, including matches against Taiwanese youth national teams, before they found out about us. As soon as they were informed about CONIFA they wanted to get a member of CONIFA and we are proud that we can give them the global stage they deserve!
