Yorkshire
Background
Yorkshire is a region at a very central point upon the British mainland, divided into three sub-divisions called Ridings. The capital, York, is the historic center of the region, while the city of Sheffield is home to the oldest football club and football ground in the world.
Yorkshire was historically influenced by the Vikings, establishing a Kingdom which became their longest enduring stronghold in Great Britain. This influence extends to local dialect which borrows heavily from Old Norse, itself also currently enjoying a modest resurgence.
YIFA joined the CONIFA family in January 2018.
