The Artsakh Football Federation (AFF) was established in 2012 and is led by Samvel Karapetyan.

Until today the Artsakh national team only played 2 friendly matches against Abkhazia in 2012:
The away match ended with a 1-1 draw and the home match was won 3-0.
In this amazing win the goals where scored by Andranik Barikyan from FC Shirak (Armenia), David Grigoryan from Ararat (Armenia) and Semyon Muradyan from FC Mika (Armenia).
All those players are experienced in the UEFA Europe League and Grigoryan even played 8 international matches for Armenia. This shows what a great quality the Artsakh national team has.

I think Nagorno-Karabakh is another top-quality team inside ConIFA and we embrace to have them as a member. Hopefully we will see them on the field for their first competitive matches as soon as possible!

About Nagorno-Karabakh

Nagorno-Karabakh is a de-facto independent state in the Caucasus region. Until today it is only recognized by Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transnistria. Besides that the Australian State New South Wales, the US States Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine and Louisiana recognize and support the nation. The South American nation Uruguay lately spoke about a soon recognition openly, too.

Regardless of the status of recognition the region is governed by the government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and thus can be definitely be called fully independent.

This independence is also visible in football. With the Artsakh League the nation is running their own league from 2009 on.
